Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions
What sort of waste can I put in?
Food waste from all categories: fruit and vegetables, meat and fish (with bones less than 8 cm long), seafood, rice, pasta, pulses, bread and pastries. Do not put in any plastic, packaging, metal or other non-food items.
Do you need to chop up the leftovers first?
No. The food is fed in exactly as it comes out of the kitchen; aerobic digestion breaks it down.
Does the kit smell?
The process is aerobic, with a constant supply of oxygen, which prevents the unpleasant odours associated with decomposition. Furthermore, a built-in sensor detects any unpleasant odours and activates the automatic deodorising function.
What comes out of the machine?
Greywater with a low organic content and no suspended solids, which is discharged into the sewerage system. It contains nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus and can be used for irrigation if permitted by local regulations. No solid residue remains.
How long does it take for the waste to be digested?
It depends on the type of food: from a couple of hours for water-rich fruit to around 28 hours for the most fibrous vegetables or seafood. Check the timetable.
What maintenance does it require?
Minimum. In the DR300, the 3-litre liquid enzyme kit lasts for approximately six months and the 210-litre Biorgmax medium lasts between two and three years. Enzyme dosing is automatic.
What do I need to install it?
On the DR300: 15 mm Ø water inlet with water temperature between 30 and 35 °C, a 65 mm Ø drain, a 230 V electrical connection and a space measuring 1,562 × 980 mm for a unit weighing 450 kg when empty. View the full details.
What happens if a piece of cutlery falls in?
The equipment detects hard or metallic objects by analysing the relationship between the motor current and the weight, and takes action before any damage occurs.
Can it be controlled remotely?
Yes, with the optional cloud-based system: usage statistics, real-time data on the amount of waste fed into and digested by the system, and remote diagnostics and fault resolution.
How long does it take to pay for itself?
The return on investment is between one and three years, depending on the model and the sector. For an estimate specific to your situation, Tell us how much waste you produce.
Is it suitable for boats?
Yes. There is a marine version made from AISI-316 stainless steel, and the equipment complies with MARPOL Annex V. More about the shipbuilding sector.
